The Alex's from Car Throttle and XCar would be a wonderful start to a new Top Gear? I'd include Chris Harris, but the age difference would make it sort of weird (and Chris Harris kinda has his current game on lock). Who, then am I missing to be the third? Henry or Jethro at Evo? I'm not the biggest fan of the latter, and the former may be an awkward pairing (maybe the James May of the bunch?). but who knows...

If you're talking about the guy with glasses from XCAR then I'd have to disagree. His commentary is too hyperbolic/generic and his talking style is so off putting I actively avoid XCAR videos, even when they're covering a car I like.

Hmm. I see the two Alexes like I would two equally nice cars in equally nice shape... However, one is fully detailed and cut polished, while the other has only been washed by the dealer.

The car with the better-than-new shine is XCAR Alex; he has that refined execution that first drew me to Top Gear all those years ago. When I first started watching his reviews, I had the same thought as you: this guy is among those that could replace the current TG three and seem natural doing it.

The other car is Car Throttle Alex; there's nothing inherently wrong with his reviews (he gives all the right information for all the right reasons), but his style would need to spend some more time in the oven before I'd put it on the table, so to speak. It's still a bit raw...

I'd honestly be surprised if Chris Harris were to reject an offer to carry the Top Gear torch, so I'd include him as part of the new trio in my book.

As for who'd join them...not sure. Still haven't found the missing piece of the puzzle yet.

Whatever they end up doing, I just hope they don't try and find a new May, Hammond, and Clarkson! Those three became a trio organically - we must let the new wave do the same, finding their own place in the show and their own way of filling it.
